Activity Director

QUALIFICATIONS: He/She will be a California Licensed Occupational Therapist, Music Therapist, Art Therapist, Dance Therapist, Or Recreation Therapist. He/ She shall have 2 years of experience in a social or recreational program with in the past 5 years , 1 year of which was full-time in client activities and programs in a mental health setting.

DUTIES: The Activity Director as California Psychiatric Transitions will be designated by the Program Director. He/She will be under the supervision of the Program Director. He/She will be responsible for development and implementation of an activity program. He/She will coordinate the activity schedule with other client services. He/She will post the activity schedule in visible print, for the information of clients and staff. He/she will maintain age appropriate equipment and supplies in sufficient quantity. He/she will develop and maintain contacts with the community agencies and organizations. He/she will maintain progress notes specific to the leisure and activity needs of the clients, at least quarterly, and more frequently as needed. The Activities Coordinator maintains an up-to-date record of the type and frequency of activities provided and the names of the residents participating in each activity. If California Psychiatric Transitions chooses to or has a need for He/She may be asked to recruit, train and supervise a volunteer program to assist with and augment services of the activity program. Due to the unpredictable nature of the psychiatric profession employees are to engage in crisis prevention procedures for the safety, health and welfare of the residents and staff. In addition to specific job duties, due to the nature of the psychiatric field, at times, you will be expected to; stand for long periods of time, bend, kneel, lift, carry and walk swiftly or run. During employment, interdepartmental duties may be assigned by supervisors or be requested by employees. Upon administrative approval, and based on operational need, these requests may be granted. Administrative approval is defined as; Facility Director, Department Heads and/or Supervisors.

Activities Assistant

Job Responsibilities:
-Develop and implement creative, expressive, educational, psychosocial, recreational, and activity based groups that will effectively engage residents and support their treatment plans.
-Monitor residents on outings to support successful integration and involvement with the community and drive a 15 passenger van if qualified to do so.
-Assist with vocational rehabilitation program to help residents learn and practice work-related skills, and document vocational rehab progress on a monthly basis.
-Work collaboratively with all departments to further develop programming for residents, and assist on the floor when needed.
-Plan and implement themed events, as well as holiday festivities.
-Provide therapeutic counseling support in all aspects of position, and effectively use de-escalation skills as needed.
-Document therapeutic progress made by residents on a quarterly basis, in addition to documenting incidents and psychiatric symptoms, as they occur.
-Attend staff meetings and in-service training as designated or required.
-Due to the unpredictable nature of the psychiatric profession employees are to engage in crisis prevention procedures for the safety, health, and welfare of the residents and staff.
-Meet with residents individually on an as needed basis to facilitate activities. In addition to specific job duties, at times, you will be expected to stand for periods of time, bend, kneel, lift, carry and walk swiftly or run.

Qualifications:
All rehabilitation staff shall have graduated from high-school or possess a General Equivalency Diploma (GED) and have a minimum of two years full time work experience (or it’s part time equivalent) working in a mental health program serving patients with severe and persistent mental illness or developmental disabilities.
Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, or Counseling can be substituted for two years of experience. Bachelor’s Degree preferred. Compensation will commensurate with experience. Please bring a copy of your DMV record or report at the time of the interview.

Housekeeping Attendant

Job Responsibilities:
The Housekeeping position requires qualified individuals to maintain high standards of cleanliness and safety for the facility. This includes resident bedrooms, bathrooms, dining areas, offices, and all common areas indoor/outdoor. Housekeeping is also responsible for sorting, drying, and folding of laundry. Interested candidates must be flexible with schedule including weekends.

Qualifications:
Preferred experience in housekeeping (especially in a hospital or similar facility) but not required.

Mental Health Worker

The Mental Health Worker position has the most direct client contact at our facility. MHW’s make up the largest department and work four 10 hour shifts per week.

Job Responsibilities:

-Help develop, plan and implement rehabilitation groups/activities.
-Assist in socialization and community integration groups/activities.
-Insure client safety and comfort.
-Provide resident supervision and advocation.
-Counsel residents on the activities of daily living.
-Conduct daily groups and encourage participation.
-Chart signs and symptoms of resident behavior.
-Report behavioral changes to medication and document all unusual occurrences.
-Chart on 1:1 and Q15 monitoring.
-Document residents daily progress in their plan of rehabilitation.
-Attend in-service training as designated or required.
-Note all worthy events pertaining to resident care or treatment.

-In addition to specific job duties, due to the nature of the psychiatric field, at times, you will be expected to stand for long periods of time, bend, kneel, lift, carry and walk swiftly or run.

Preferred: One year of experience with direct patient or client care in a mental health, medical, or human services setting
**OR**
60 college semester units.
(Desirable – 15 semester units in behavioral sciences.)

Art, Music and/or Drama Therapist

The Music, Drama and/or Recreational Therapist will work 4 ten hour shifts weekly, or a varied schedule as determined by the Activity Director. Therapists should expect to work one weekend shift (either Saturday or Sunday), as part of their weekly schedule.

Job Responsibilities:
-Facilitate creative, educational, psycho social, recreational, and activity-based groups that will effectively engage residents and support their treatment plans, as needed.
-Participate in community integration outings, as well as monitor residents to support successful integration and involvement with the community; drive van if qualified to do so.
-Meet with residents individually on an as-needed basis to facilitate expressive arts therapy or activities.
-Participate in theme day and holiday events, and work with team members to collaborate and assist in development of the department.
-Effectively manage groups and provide verbal de-escalation when needed.
-Provide therapeutic counseling support in all aspects of position.
-Provide required documentation related to conducting individual sessions, activities assessments, monthly, and quarterly reports.
-Participate in required in-service training and staff development as needed.
-Due to the unpredictable nature of the psychiatric profession, employees are to engage in crisis prevention procedures for the safety, health, and welfare of the residents and staff.
-In addition to specific job duties, at times, you will be expected to stand for periods of time, bend, kneel, lift, carry and walk swiftly or run.

Qualifications:
Applicants must be certified or working towards certification in the fields of recreational, music or drama therapy. Completed education requirements for specific modality is required. License or registration in respective modality preferred, or applicant must provide evidence of working towards a credential in recreational, music, drama, or occupational therapy.
